This is a great series with a compelling story. It follows the young Darren Shan as he is cursed with the life of a vampire as a trade to save his best friend. Soon Darren will join the Cirque Du Freak, a freak show that showcases many “talented” people including Gertha Teeth, Ramsus Twobellies, and Alexander Ribs. He must also face off with the vampaneze, the evil “cousins” of the vampires. I think many young readers will enjoy this great work of Darren Shan and take away many things from the series.

Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment (first in the series) by James Patterson is about six kids: Max, Fang, Angel, Iggy, Gazzy, and Nudge. They have wings and people that are called "erasers" are trying to kill them. The author describes the kids by their age and their powers. They are experiments, and "the doctors" want to use their DNA for making more experiments. I recommend this book to people that like fantasy and are looking for a good book to read.
